Welcome to First Grade!!

I am so excited to have you in my class this year!  You have a lot to look forward to in first grade!  Most of all, you will practice your reading, reading, reading.  Learning to read opens up a whole new world of fun and new facts.  We will also master your basic math facts and strategies and write lots of fun stories.  First grade, here we come!!

I have wanted to be a teacher since I was a little girl!  My dream came true after I graduated from Brigham Young University with Bachelor's in Elementary Education in 2003.  My husband, Shawn, and I moved to Arizona where I taught third grade until my twins, Carter and Madi, were born.  I stayed home to raise my twins until 2014, which is when we moved back to Utah. I have now spent three years in Fifth Grade and three years in First Grade.  I have loved every age group that I have taught!

I can’t wait to get to know all about YOU this school year!  Before we meet, I’d like to share a few things about ME.  First, I love to spend  time in the sun!  Over the summer, my family enjoys beach hopping, jumping on the trampoline, gardening, and swimming.  Also, I adore all things sweet, especially chocolate and gummy bears.  Finally, I am a musical person, so I have been known to write original songs and raps to help my students remember important topics.  You had better get ready to get your groove on!
