Principal Message

Hi Boulton Community,

My name is Lori James, and I am the principal at Boulton Elementary.  This is my first year as a principal, and I’m both honored and excited to be joining the Boulton community at such an amazing school!

I graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and later went back to school to complete a Master’s in School Leadership and Administration.  This is my 23^rd year in education, as I spent 14 years as a classroom teacher, 3 years as a math instructional coach to teachers, and 5 years as an assistant principal/administrative intern.

In my personal life, I am married and the mom to three amazing sons and their beautiful wives.  I also get to be the grandma to six awesome little people who are 8 and under, with another on the way!  I love anything that happens outdoors—walking/hiking, gardening, boating, water activities, etc.

Our theme at Boulton this year is “Mission Possible—I can do hard things!”  We will focus on promoting growth and excellence in our communications, citizenship traits, and in our learning and thinking.  We will practice and use our top agent skills to magnify our talents and strengths, use clues and competent strategies to learn in the best way possible for each individual, and seek for evidence as we problem solve to find solutions to our challenges.

At Boulton, we will continue to learn and grow our academic skills, as well as focusing on character traits such as self management, self awareness, responsible decision making, relationship skills, and social awareness.

Again, I look forward to an amazing school year, and I’m very grateful for the opportunity to work with a terrific staff, students, and community.
